The Battle of the Camel

Author: Shaykh al-Mufid

Translator: Badr Shahin

Published by: Ansariyan Publications

The sedition of the Camel was the first civil war between two Muslim parties, and the most difficult for their jurisprudents in particular, because they could not acquaint themselves with jurisprudential laws appertained to prisoners of war as well as other related issues except through the conducts of Imam Ali during this battle. In this regard, Abu-Hanifiah, of the Hanafiyyah school and Muhammad ibn Idris al-Shafi of Shafiyyah School express: “We could not have had any idea about the laws of treating the transgressing party except from the conduct of Imam Ali a.s.”
